Windows 2K Re-Booting

by ljackson.desoto . Updated 21 years, 2 months ago

Hello-
I am working on a gateway computer that was upgraded from Windows ME to Win 2k with a clean install. I am not sure what the user was doing or tried to do, but now the system tried to boot gets to the Win2k Professional white screen and then instead of going into windows, it re-boots itself. The same thing happens in safe mode. After the black dos type screen comes up another screen (says safe mode on the bottom) asks what o/s to load – only choice win2k and then it tries to re-boot again. I tried last known good configuration and loaded the optimal defaults in the BIOS. The only other thing I can think of is right after the win2k white screen, before it re-boots you can see a flash of a blue screen that I think could be a stop error, but it never pauses long enough. You can barely tell it is a blue screen let alone read what it says. Help?! Thanks.
