windows 8

I am new to windows 8 and I am totally lost even with windows 8 for dummies. All I want is to add a shortcut form my gmail account onto my desk top. I would also like to know where the internet option is and where is the File Explorer tile is. The File Explorer is not o my start screen. Maybe this is not the correct blog to ask these elementary questions so maybe someone can suggest another. THanks.
