windows continuous reboot

by rameter . Updated 16 years, 4 months ago

Ok, I’m frustrated. I was having problems with one PC. It would not boot and was constantly rebooting. I was troubleshooting with that machine (replaced RAM, powersupply, repaired after chkdsk, fixmbr, fixboot, tried a reinstall of windows over the previous (repair)). When I put the windows XP cd in and go through recovery console the drive is navigable (I can’t access some folders however to get data off of). As a last resort I pulled out the HD and plugged it into another machine. BIG errors from first boot. Now after a day of rebooting and “fixing windows errors” and blue screens, it’s showing the same symptoms which are: PC posts and begins booting windows and then cycles off and reboots. Safe Mode isn’t helping either. Any ideas? Virus? It’s the only thing left I can think of. I find it strange that it would effect a second computer in the EXACT same way. Please help…now I lost both computers at home!
