windows vista error 17

I am hoping someone can help me. Searched every to my dismay.

I had windows xp pro installed on my computer. Got windows vista ultimate 32 bit.

Booted form the dvd, formated my hard drive (sata) for a clean installation.

Vista goes through the installation process without a hitch.

But when it comes to the final reboot of the computer to boot vista for the first time.

It gives me an “boot error”

acpi vistaloader 2.1.2
find set root /bootmgr
Error 17: file not found

fallback windows xp etc.
error 17: file not found. etc.

It does the same with vista 64bit.

Please if anyone can help me I will be grateful
