I have a win2k domain
I have a winxp pro desktop
I have a win98 desktop
Problem:
When I try to logon to the win2k domain with my windows 98 machine, it logs on fine (logon time: <10 sec.) When I try to logon to the win2k domain with the win xp pro machine, it take a long time to logon (logon time: 2-5min).
- Change the DNS setting of the XP machine to the Win2k (local) Was able to Log on to the network in less than 10 sec.
This was due to a DNS setting in windows XP. In order to fix the logon problem, I have to put the win2k server as the primary DNS & put our ISP?s DNS as the second and third.
New problem:
While the logon issue was resolved by adding the win2k server as the primary DNS server, another problem arises? the Windows XP machine is now unable to connect to the Internet!
I tried changing the XP machine?s DNS setting and made the win2k server?s IP into it?s Secondary DNS. The same logon problem came back?
