winword takeover

while connected with Ms word 2003 open winword.exe tries to access the web via Comodo -allow/deny?
If I deny, my browser refuses to open any more pages (error loading page) until I shut both word and browser(Firefox) How do I prevent winword.
Incidentally I’ve just seen that Paintshop Pro7 does the same with same consequence.
Is there a fix?
