XP product key

Hi guys
In a previous newsletter, there was a useful article regarding saving the XP product ID before reformatting and then pasting it into Windows instead of going through the activation process. Can anyone point me to the article or can run through the routine? I just want to wipe the disk and reload (no computer changes).
