XP Won’t boot?

This is a friends PC, running xp 2 on it when i tried to boot normal it gets stuck on the windows flag screen. so i re booted in safe mode and i tried all of them, it shows me the four corners safe mode but then goes right back to the windows flag screen and sits. any help or guidance would greatly be apreciated.
