    Opera Software has dropped the fee and banner ads for version 8.5 of its browser. The company claims its free browser is the fastest and most secure available. Its tabbed browsing lets you open multiple Web pages within the same Window.

  • Opera lets you zoom in to a 1,000-percent enlargement of a Web page by using the + button on your keyboard, and zoom out to 20 percent of a page by using the – button.

  • Opera’s security bar is yellow when it recognizes a safe site. You can examine a site’s security certificate by clicking Opera’s security tab.

  • Opera allows you to find search sites by using a shortcut. For example, to search for Opera on Google you type “g Opera” in the address bar.

  • Opera’s e-mail client functions as an RSS reader and mailing list organizer.
