Amazon’s new $75 AI wearable includes conversation summaries at no extra charge, but accessing older conversation history requires a subscription. The monthly fee could eventually cost more than the device itself.

Amazon introduced Bee Frontier on Oct. 15, 2026, for $74.99, including conversation summaries, recaps, and 14 days of history without a recurring fee. Its optional Bee Pro subscription costs $11.99 monthly and adds longer-term memory, app integrations, and advanced AI features. A second device, Bee Eclipse, starts at $99.99, although its release date remains unannounced.

New customers receive a 30-day Pro trial before choosing between the paid and free plans. The subscription decision hinges on how often they need to retrieve older conversations or connect Bee to their existing apps.

Bee Basic vs. Pro: Features and pricing

Bee Frontier can be worn on the wrist or clipped to clothing. According to Amazon’s October 15 announcement, it has two microphones, IP67 water resistance, USB-C charging, and up to seven days of battery life. Bee Eclipse attaches magnetically to a phone and promises more than 21 days of battery life on a single charge.

The devices join a market that includes wearable AI note takers from Plaud, SwitchBot, Omi, and Vocci. Bee Basic includes conversation processing, summaries, and 14 days of searchable history, which remain available after the Pro trial expires.

The Bee Pro plan adds:

  • Unlimited history: Searchable conversations beyond the free tier’s 14-day limit.
  • Advanced AI features: Daily summaries, suggested to-dos, deeper insights, and conversation templates.
  • App integrations: Connections to Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Alexa+, Amazon.com, photos, and health information.
  • Desktop access: Bee for Desktop on Mac and Windows, including recording calls from supported computer applications.

Pro costs $11.99 monthly or $99.99 annually, with the annual option saving $43.89 over 12 monthly payments.

Existing Bee Pioneer owners who purchased before Oct. 15, 2026, retain their previous features for free. New capabilities, including desktop access, may require Pro.

Unlike software-based AI meeting assistants, Bee requires dedicated hardware. Its basic summaries carry no recurring fee, but longer-term memory and connected workflows remain subscription features.

Privacy controls and workplace use

Both devices have physical microphone controls and indicator lights showing when audio processing is active. Amazon says users are prompted to obtain permission from call participants when recording begins, although workplace recording policies and consent requirements still apply.

Amazon says Bee transcribes conversations in real time and deletes the original audio after processing. The resulting transcripts, summaries, and other information can remain available through the service, depending on the user’s plan and deletion settings.

Through Bee Private Compute, that information is encrypted using keys controlled by the user’s device. Amazon says further processing occurs within an isolated environment using AWS technology, rather than entirely on the wearable.

Organizations considering AI-powered recording wearables should review recording consent, confidential discussions, and permissions for connected applications before approving workplace use.

Bee Frontier’s $74.99 purchase price covers basic conversation summaries, making the free tier suitable for occasional use. For professionals who depend on older records, automated follow-ups, and app integrations, the hardware is only the starting cost — Bee Pro adds $11.99 a month.
