ABIT AV8-3rd Eye has lost SATA RAID 0 setup configuration

by nigel.butler10 . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

My brother’s AV8-3rd Eye motherboard, which has been running fine for months, has just lost it’s SATA setup configuration (for no apparent reason).
Now reporting “Verifying DMI Pool Data” when trying to boot from the array (obviously!)

I think he has 2 x SATA HDs using RAID 0.

The CMOS battery seems OK, although not checked.

With VIA RAID, are the RAID details held on the HDs or in the CMOS?
I read in one of the posts that there are RAID recovery utilities available, but the link was “dead”.

The drives are detected in the VIA RAID setup (BIOS V.4.31), they just aren’t setup now.

1) Can he re-enter the information for the RAID setup without loosing the data on the drives?

2) What do you think the cause may be?
