Africa vs Technology- which way forward?

I have been an It generalist for a while (about 7 years) and i don’t seem to fathom which technology is ideal considering the fast rate of advances. In Nigeria, majority know next to nothing about trends as there are in other lands. Is there any chance that we can have a kind of focus?
