This may sound like a really weird question, and I’m sure it is. I’m just wondering, on my home network I get about 1.2MB’s a second download speed. Megabytes a second. Now, I run servers here as well. Web servers. I host a few different websites on one box and use host headers so they can all use port 80 [IIS]. I started this about 3 days ago. I noticed just tonight that my load times for web pages [in any browser] has dropped a fair bit. Download times if I go to download a file off the internet like a video podcast remain at 1.2MB’s a second, so speed isn’t falling. I’m just wondering if the extra load times have anything to do with the fact that I have a system here using Host Headers. At the same time, I’m a Network Administrator all day long for a few schools so I may just be really tired and not thinking right, lol. Maybe Shaw’s having problems tonight [my ISP]. Either way, it’s a good learning experience for me whether or not Host Headers effect that. I didn’t think it should, just checking by the odd chance maybe it did. My roommate noticed his internet is slower too though, and our modem is receiving two IP’s, he’s on a different one. Oh, and my web server and my network of 12 systems here isn’t on a domain.
