Archive.pst not viewable

Try as I might to bring the malbehaved .pst in from back up tape, or run scanpst.exe, or search technet, I cannot seem to fix this issue. The archive is all of my user’s 2001 email and is only 118MB. When I try to either import or view either the orginal file or file brought in from back up, there is nothing in the Archive folder. This same file was reportedly viewable a month ago.

Has anyone seen and resolved this? If so, is there something additional I can do? I know .pst’s don’t corrupt until 2 GB (sometimes at 1.75GB depending).
