Boosting Virtual computing performance

by somebozo . Updated 20 years, 4 months ago

I created a 128MB RAM Disk using Cenatek RAMDisk XP and installed VMWare Workstation into this ram disk and gained significant performance and speed improvement. The logic behind this which I belive makes it work is since VMWare Workstation is nothing more than an emulator software and running it off a ram disk eliminates the delay factor due to hard drive access latency hence emulation can take place in near realtime boosting performance.

Can someone verify my claims..?

I am sure it should also enhance performance of MS VPC but i had no time to test it.

Cenatek Ram Disk XP Trial can be downloaded from:
http://www.cenatek.com/store/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=33&CFID=1989801&CFTOKEN=4202119

Configuration of my actual PC is:

Pentium 4 – 2.8 GHz, 512KB Cache, Northwood core
1GB RAM DDR-400
2x 80GB Western Digital IDE Hard disk
