Brother Mfc 4800 will only scan 1 page at a time

Recently my Brother MFC 4800 started only scanning 1 page of a multi page scan then displays “press stop” after pressing stop/exit the remaining pages of scan feed thru without being scanned. Has anyone ever had this problem or know what could be causing it?
