can i switch from azure to a self hosted server?

could it be possible to deploy an app on Windows Azure, and down the road decouple it and start hosting it from my own servers? I think that VB and MsSql will run on any windows server, rural or dedicated, I just need to know if I can do the same with any other development framework I choose.
