Compaq Laptop wont get past post.

I have a compaq laptop that will start up with the logo page. It will give me an option of pressing F10 to get into the BIOS. If I don’t press F10 then the computer will restart and begin the process again. If I do press F10 I am able to get into the BIOS and the computer will not restart when I am there.(at the bios page) but nothing there seems to be able to help me. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!
