After installing 6300 Conroe and Gigabyte 965P-DS3 motherbaord in the computer case, I tried to power it up for the first time. The case fan and power supply began to spin for a few seconds, stopped and began to spin again it went into a loop process THE CPU FAN NEVER MOVED.I tried a different psu, same problem. I took out of case and tried again, same problem. I removed video card, tried 1 stick and then no ram same problem. I tested the voltage ouput at 12V ATX connector it was 11.9 volts at all times. The voltage at the cpu fan header & sys fan header on the motherboard was moving between .5 and 4.2 volts. I removed cpu and then cpu fan would run without stopping and 11.9 volts at fan headers. With 12 volt ATX power lead removed the cpu fan runs normal but still wont POST. I installed my 6300 conroe in my friends motherboard (GA-965P-DS3) and it works fine. Summary : CPU – OK PSU – OK RAM – OK (same problem with or without ram installed). I think MB is faulty due to voltage output at fan headers (11.9 volt without cpu installed and .5 to 4.2 with cpu installed). Did I miss something? What else can I try?
