We are trying to trying to transfer data from a clients old computer to her new one. Since her old one is about 6 or 7 years old, we thought it best to make a ghost image of her drive before transfering files, just in case something happened with the drive. Little did we know that Norton Ghost would totally screw the drive. Her previous system was WinME, her new one is WinXP. We started the ghost image of her drive and after it was completed we couldn’t access the drive itself anymore OR the ghost image we just created. It was working fine before we did the ghost image. Now my company stands to loose thousands of dollars from this one incident. The data on the drive is extremely important considering the client is a travel agent for some very prominent clients, and that drive contains all of their past and near future travel arrangements. She never did any kind of backup before and we are stuck with the task of trying to get all of her old data back. When trying to access the drive we get the message “the drive is not formatted. Would you like to format now?” well of course not. I thought it might be a fat32 vs. ntfs problem so we tried it in another winme box, but still same error. We tried ghosting the image that we had to another drive, still no luck. We tried putting the drive in a linux system, still nothing. Me and my business partner are pulling what little hair we have left out over this. Any…. i repeat ANY! suggestions would be very much appreciated.
