Delay in openning files when connected to home network

Hi All,
if i am connected to the office network i have no problem openning files. Once i am at home, using wireless or Cable and try to open a file it takes ages. file can be any of any extension, e.g doc, xls, jpg, mpeg..etc.
Same happens when i login to windows. once i switch off wireless i can easily do my work.
