Display issues (see post for specifics) on HP laptop when on battery power

Hello All!

My display will draw thin lines about 1 1/2 to 2 inches in length next to the mouse and will repeatedly turn on and off when running on battery power on ac it is completely fine. Battery is showing a full charge.

Is it possible that the battery can’t provide enough power to my video card and yet be able to power the rest of the machine? I wouldn’t think that there is anything wrong with the lcd itself or the board since it’s fine on ac.

If anyone has any ideas I would certainly appreciate it. I want to have some idea what could be causing it before I talk to HP tech, we’ve already gone round with this laptop before when I did have a mobo problem.
