Here’s the synopsis (as I remember it):

[pre]You are following a man as he wakes up and goes about his morning routine…the only thing different is that literally EVERYTHING is covered in advertisements. Even his bathroom mirror flashes ads at him as he’s brushing his teeth. When he gets in a taxi (also displaying many advertisments inside and out, and tries to read his newspaper…every other line is an ad.

He decides to take a vacation at this place that promises no ads…no tv…no phone. He thinks it’s a blissful vacation spot to get a rest from the unending ads. But the reader is let on that it’s actually a sanitarium…with the idea that anyone who feels they need a rest from the ads (the norm of the time) must be insane.[/pre]

I’m hoping someone knows the title or author of this story. I want to find a copy of it.

This story keeps coming to mind because everywhere you look, TV, Newspapers, billboards, activity centers and especially online, there are ads, ads and more ads. Pretty much every space they can think of they’re figuring out how to place an ad on it. Kinda scary don’t you think? 🙂
