DVD-ROM not reconized on most reboots

by spyder_1 . Updated 24 years, 11 months ago

When the computer posts up, most times my DVD-ROM will not be reconized, but all other drives and hardware are. There are times that it does see it but generally not. Have 2 hard disks, one with Win2K pro., the other Win ME. Also have a CD-RW that is always reconized tho it is configured as a slave to my DVD-ROM. I have tried changing DVD to a slave and having CD as master to no avail. Have checked all my connections inside and everything seems plugged in and snug. Have gone into BIOS set-up to see if there was something I could do there…….when checking secondary IDE devices it is all set to auto. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Have included my set-up if that would be of some help.

Win2Kpro……….IDE primary (master)
Win ME…………IDE primary (slave)
Toshiba DVD-ROM…IDE secondary (master)
Sony CD-RW……..IDE secondary (slave)
