Edit IF Function

Hi – I’m a newbie on the site and hoping not to seem too clueless!

I am trying to edit a basic if function to change the value returned ie I want

=IF(B2=”A”,1) to becoame =IF(B2=”A”<1.5) I do the editing, but the formula remains visible in the cell without the calculation having occured???
