Eichmann as a liar

At his trial in Jerusalem, Adolf Eichmann said that a main purpose of his 1937 Palestine Trip had been to visit the Mufti of Jerusalem. In his trip report, which I have read, there is no mention of the Mufti. He didn’t get into Palestine, but when he got to Cairo he did have a meeting with a Haganah representative sent over to discuss things with him; no representative of the Mufti came.

Did he leave out an important failure in his trip report or was he lying at his trial? In either case, why?
