emails

I am getting only about a third of the emails I normally get. Many of my friends tell me they can’t send me emails because it gets returned or they send me but I never get it.
This problem just started happening about 2 weeks ago.
Can anyone help me? I am not computer literate so I need basic help. I am using Hotmail through Internet Explorer.
