PROBLEM:
I had my computers worked on and the tech couldn’t get the 2000 pro to communicate with the XP on my Ethernet LAN. The LAN connection icons on both computers show they are “connected,” but I don’t know how to configure the 2000 Pro manually to make it work. I can’t use the XP Network Wizard either. When I make the disc on the XP and insert it into the 2000 Pro it doesn’t work.
Can you recommend or tell me how I need to configure the 2000 Pro so that it will link to the XP host and Internet ISP? Are the ipconfig IP, etc. numbers identical or should they be different? I don’t know why the subnet numbers don’t work and don’t know what to enter. I have tried 255.255.255.0 and 255.255.0.0 on the 2000 Pro, but that doesn’t work.
