Excel – Sum and Average every other row

by rosstamon . Updated 19 years, 2 months ago

I have an Excel spreadsheet that has data in every other row starting in cell C2 and ending in cell C62. I am trying to get my spreadsheet to calculate the average of all of the data in these cells. I know how to do an average formula, but I don’t know how to tell Excel to only average cells C2, C4, C6… C62 and ignore C1, C3, C5… C61. The odd numbered cells have other things in them, sometimes words, sometimes other numbers. So I can’t just say “=AVERAGE(C1:C62)”. Please help when you have a chance.
Thanks.
