Excel summing columns

I have an excel spreadsheet.
I sum columns b1:b49 into b50
Columns in the range have other caculations to other cells in the spreadsheet. These work.
The grand total does not work for whatever cell calculations that reference other cells.
It islike I need a recalc function to get the grand total.
How do I fix this.
