Exchange Server for Calendars and Tasks – alternatives & cost

Hello,

We are an IT company and a client is asking for Exchange. They will only use calendars and tasks. Company has 1200 employees.

Are there any alternatives? We have never installed exchange before, so another question is what’s the market value of such an installation?
