Generic Host Process Error

..after booting in WinXP Pro, I get this “Generic Host Process Error for win32 Services encountred a problem and needed to close.” Related files are c:/Docum~1….svchost.exe and …..appcompat.txt in the same subdirectory. Search can not locate them. I can either ignore it or reboot , either way it is ok. I use comcast.net for internet service. I am wondering if this error is related to comcast?
Has anybody encountred this??
