ghosting

I’m a little new at doing most IT stuff, however I have a client that requires a larger hard drive for a desk top machine. I would like to take the old hard drive and copy the contents onto the new drive using an old version of ERD Commander. I’m not sure, but the Commander program creates an image file of the old drive and transfers it to the new drive? Then expands the image file into a working system on the new drive? Is this true? Or what exactly happens as I have never performed this function and I don’t really want to mess this up. Please let me know how to accomplish this transfer successfully. Oh, windows xp and windows vista are partitioned on the old drive. Thanx, Mr. Ed
