Grant Users extra rights in Active Directory

I run a small Windows server2003 network with about 40 -50 users.
A group of these are teaching staff who need to access various student folders for marking tests etc.
How do i assign additional rights to these users, enablinga fair amount of user control, but keeping them out of the actual networking areas?
