Graphics and Word 2007

I am trying to inset our firm logo into our legal pleadings and I am having 2 problems. First is that on the side of the pleading it literally jumps off the page and only shows the bottom 1/4 of the logo…and no adjustments change the logo. Second if I try to place the logo in the body of the document at the top of the pleading it shows and prints as a black square. I worked on it at home (where I have Office 2003) and it was difficult to work with but at least looked like our logo, but when I opened it up at the office, there is the black square. (incidentally, our logo is in .jpeg format.)
