Hard Disk Space Lost

Hello,

I have 80 gb hard disk with 4 partition one is compressed now i exchange this hard disk with my frined after taking backup of data in another friends pc. now this hard disk is showing 32gb total space in my friends pc to whom i have exchanged it. i have full formatted the hard disk but still no solution. please tell me what is the problem and what can i do to recover my 40 gb space.
