Have a suggestion for software not autostarting with Windows 7?

Hoping for some possible suggestions on both the issue and possibly some services for hire who could resolve if necessary.

Problem: Our software will not autostart with Windows 7, unless the security settings are greatly reduced. This is not desirable for users.

Any suggestions on resolving this issue? Many other software types work fine (e.g. file backup, database software, etc.) that also interact with external servers.
Is there language that needs to be in the program that will work once permission is given? Certain language that will prevent it from autostarting?
