Good evening all,
I have set up my own Windows Server 2008 server, i have created my own domain.local Active Directory/ DNS install.
Recently i purchased a domain name, which I would like to be able to host my own mx records etc instead of paying a company to host them for me.
Eventually I am planning to run a mailserver and host websites on my own server to be accessed.
I am looking for some documentation or guides on how to take control of my domain name so I host the records and can make my own modifications.
I know I can add a DNS Forward lookup zone for my domain.net address on my server. But I am assuming I need to some how take control of my domain register using the domain key that I have so that I am in charge of this? I am confused on this as to where I might need to authenticate that I own the domain in the Windows DNS Manager, so that I can publish the new information online.
Any tips, thoughts or information is greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Michael
