hosting web site with window 2000 server

i am running windows 2000 server from my home and just set up my web site how come on the url i type in the computer name it says invalid and when i type in the ip adress then i can conect to site,this ip adress is the same one i am using for my dsl bottom line how can i change the ip adress to conect to a standard .com name in my dns.
