hotmail and msn messenger

tried to download new msn update for messenger and lost my hotmail(MSN).I can get in to the last page and as soon as I click on inbox the system freezes.my outlook works fine and I can access other websites with explorer.I tried downloadindg version6 and am not sure if it took effect.In my internet properties I have a new entry as follows:com/1sapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&pver=6&up=msnhome
