How do I actually download something from Tech Republic?

I just tried to download “Nineteen Words that Don’t Belong in a Resume,” and “Services that can be Stopped in XP (or something like that). In each case I went to a page that had a DOWNLOAD symbol, then was asked to enter my e-mail address and password, whereupon I was back where I started. I tried downloading several other articles, all with the same result.

What am I missing?
