How to determine system changes for install on SUSE linux?

Hello,

I am doing an install of a small product that I would like to know each and every detail that it does to install itself on the machine. Need to know changes like permissions on files or folders, new files added, files which have been modified, etc.

Anything that works would be great like done with Unix commands, freware software, commercial software, open source, etc. Do not care of type of solution, just need the solution.

Anyone here ever needed to do this?
