How to handle HAL.DLL when ghosting NT.

We are in the process of simplifying our setup routines by utilizing a ghosting program to place a basic load on each pc. We have to replace the image with each new piece of hardware we utilize which effectively defeats the purpose. Is there a wayto update the HAL.DLL without going through creation of a new image? We purchase computers in lots of two and three and therefore are subject to changes all of the time.
