how to uninstall wmp11

Had a problem with roxio emc due to wmp11 which I now know is a common issue. The fix is to uninstall wmp11 and roll back to v. 10. Here’s the problem:
Everything relating to wmp11 is removed by using add/remove programs in control panel except for
windows media format 11 runtime. When I try to remove it, a message tells me it can’t because it’s needed form wmp11. What can I do?
