ICS Host quit working

by gregg s . Updated 21 years, 5 months ago

We run a Win98 peer-to-peer network and share our DSL Internet connection using ICS. It has worked fine in the past. However, we got a new PC with WinXP on it. In trying to connect it to the network, it prompted to make a disk to set up the network settings on other PC’s. I ran this disk on the Host PC for ICS. Ever since I did this, I have not been able to share its IP address to the client PC’s. I have uninstalled and reinstalled ICS multiple times on the Host and have checked everything I know to check, following sever troubleshooting guides. Hence, I believe that the XP files from the new PC that I erroneously installed in the Host Win98 PC is causing havoc with ICS. Unfortunately, I do not know what files these are and how to uninstall them. The Host PC accesses Internet fine.

Any suggestions of how to proceed from here? This is an office network, so I will really appreciate any and all feedback! Thanks!
