IE ghosts in taskbar

When after several web pages are opened then closed there is in the taskbar a link/minimized icon in the tasbar titled Internet explorer, right click only allows minimize or closure, minimize puts it to the lower right hand corner (invisible), I cannot find a property to stop this, I can have several “ghosts” at one time.
