Installing Windows XP and Office XP

Dear TechRepublic:

I know you are the only experts in the field that can help me.

I am TRYING [I apologise for the capitalisation of the latter word as I know this is like ‘shouting’ and I don’t mean to do that to you] but I am trying to install XP Windows and Office on my laptop and I am not getting Internet Explorer at all.

I have no idea what to do or how to fix this.

Are you able to help me? Is there a way I can get IE6 [presumably this is what comes with XP] from another source – I have been informed that you can download this free from ‘certain’ sites, but I am ignorant of these avenues.
