Intranet domain name same as hosted web address?

Hi, I need a little advice from someone knowledgeable about windows server networking. I have a registred domain name and a web site hosted by godaddy. I am setting up a windows server and am stuck deciding to use the same domain name for the intranet that we have registered for the web site. It seems like we should in case we ever take over the hosting or email ourselves so I’m leaning that way but wanted another opinion.
