Is it just us or the SPAMs are getting worse?

We’ve been getting more and more spams thesedays, it is worst on Mondays users could get over 100 junk emails over weekend. I am wondering what countermeasures other organizations are using. Has anyone used a third-party spam filtering service? Would greatly appreciate any input on this.
