Linking a password protected document

I designed an excel document for a few people in my department. The document will be in a shared directory, so I gave each one a password to open their document. I need the totals so I want to link an excel file, the problem is – when I go to update the link, it asks me for the individual’s password. Is there a way around this? I will have too many files to enter a password. What can I do?
